APE Grupo takes part in ‘Earth Hour’

APE Grupo is taking part in ‘Earth Hour’, becoming the first company in the ceramics industry this year to get involved in this initiative promoted by WWF.

‘Earth Hour’ is the largest global environmental advocacy action known to date. This initiative is supported by more than 100 companies, including the firm from Castellón representing the tile industry.

The project aims to unite companies, local governments and citizens in the fight against climate change and the loss of biodiversity. This purpose aligns with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that APE Grupo has developed over the years.

‘Earth Hour’ takes place at night on the 27th of March. It involves switching off the lights in buildings and monuments and unplugging electronics for one hour (from 8.30pm to 9.30pm CET).

For this reason, the company will be switching off the lights in its office building in Castellón and its logistics centre in Onda (Province of Castellón). The aim is to show support for the fight against climate change and encourage people to contemplate the planet’s future.

APE Grupo’s participation in ‘Earth Hour’ is one of the tile company’s many environmental initiatives.

In fact, APE Grupo is the only firm in the ceramics industry to possess the BREEAM office building sustainability certificate, which it achieved in 2016.

This certification guarantees that the company’s facilities are an efficient, sustainable, environmentally friendly construction.

ISO Certification

In addition, the ceramics firm renewed its ISO 14001 environmental certification in February. This ISO confirms good management and prevention of environmental risks inherent to the company’s activity.

In addition, APE Grupo has registered the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its porcelain stoneware collections. This certificate is awarded after analysing the product during its manufacture, construction, use and end-of-life phases.

Thanks to this endorsement, professionals can take the environment into consideration when selecting products, which is something that offers added value beyond economic, aesthetic and functional aspects.

With these measures, APE Grupo aims to ensure its facilities and production processes are consistent with the company’s philosophy, thus achieving environmental transparency.

These endorsements support the company’s efforts aimed at improving its surrounding area and serving as a precedent in the ceramics industry.
